Petersfield Branch – Fundraising Events

About us

The Petersfield & District Branch of Save the Children is one of the oldest and most successful in Great Britain.

We have fun with our 150+ volunteers who mobilise twice a year to help with our two major fundraising events: The Big Sale and Gift Fair.

How we raised a clear £50,000 in 2017:

The Big Sale raised £25,000 over three days
The Gift Fair raised £10,000 in two days
The Bridge Day raised £2,000
The Police Choir concert raised £2,000
The Pop-Up Shop raised £1,124
The Schools Concert raised £2,225
Street Collection raised £2,000
Sponsorship, Gift Aid and donations made up the remainder

It is astounding that for a small market town, we rate annually as the best performing and highest fund-raising branch in the UK.

Our volunteers help us because not only do we raise vital funds for Save the Children’s work but we also have fun as a group in doing so.

We also provide support for:

Talks to schools and groups; children’s shows and dances; coffee mornings; auctions.

We are always open to new ideas and can provide help and staffing to our supporters who wish to fund-raise on our behalf.

We’re not stuffy or old fashioned and are happy embracing innovative ideas. We welcome new volunteers or any one who has expertise in an area that they could help us with – even if only for an hour! The Gift Fair is held up by the Charity Fairs Association as an exemplar to their members and is used as a model by Save the Children too. In 2013, the 50th anniversary of the Big Sale, we were honoured to receive a visit from HRH Princess Anne in her capacity as President of Save the Children. One of our members was recently awarded the British Empire Medal for her unstinting service to Petersfield Branch.
